The GCW Tour, Spain & Morocco: We Interrupt the Travel Commentary for a Brief Cancer Update

We're now in our fifth day in Spain, so I figured I'd provide a quick update on the state of my side effects...

Most happily, my digestive system has been oddly cooperative. I have yet to need to use my one reliable Spanish phrase, "Donde esta el baƱo?"

The heat is trashing my fingers. They're getting all chapped and peeling at the tips of my index fingers, and the creases in the joints of all my fingers and thumbs. The left index finger is so bad it's peeled down to the layers of skin where the nerve endings are. I've got my PA-recommended lotion with my, but it's having a hard time keeping up in this environment.

My feet are actually doing okay. I have yet to wear sandals, and possibly won't, but in my tennis shoes I seem to be okay walking. I still can't feel my toes, buy the niece and I have hiked some miles through Barcelona and so far I'm keeping up.

My vision is shot, but I'm not sure I can wholly blame the cancer treatment. I realized the other day that my glasses are two-plus years old, and at my age, that's a long time. But it's hard to travel when you can't read a sign more than twenty paces out, so I'll be getting my eyes checked as soon as I get home.

That's pretty much it for the cancer. Back to the travelogue...
