The GCW Tour, Spain & Morocco: The 1st Food Report -- Cafe de L'Academia

Before we left, everyone said the best thing about Barcelona was the food. After one day, I have no basis for disagreement. After tapas for lunch, for dinner we found a place called the Cafe de L'Academia recommended in one of our guidebooks and just a few blocks from where we were staying. The niece got to try anchovies and pate for the first time -- neither impressed -- and the entire meal was pretty fabulous. One could certainly do a lot worse...

Toast with Anchovies, Mozzarella, and Tomatoes

The House Salad (if you can believe it)

Potatoes with Jamon, Poached Egg, and Duck Liver

Squab with Apple Tart and Sauce

Tagliatelle with Shrimp

Dessert Sampler (clockwise from front): Tiramisu, Chocolate Ganache Cake,
Blueberry Cheesecake, Puff Pastry with Peaches and Cream, and
a Lemon Meringue which we served before I remembered to take a picture.
