Before we left, one of SIL2's co-workers recommended we take one of Taste of Barcelona's tapas tours. I signed us up for two, and last night was the first. (We'll take the second when we get back from Morocco.) This tour was focused on the Gotico neighborhood (which is where the condo we're using is located) and involved four different locations.
The tour guide was an actress working for tour company in her spare time, and she did a great job orienting us to the foods of the region, and giving recommendations of places to go. When I signed up, the website recommended taking the tour as early as possible in your visit, and I'd certainly echo that sentiment. The niece and I aren't really going to be here long enough to take advantage of some of her recommendations, but had we gone out the first night we would have had more time.
And I will say I really like the fact that the tour was just us, the guide, and one other couple from Portland. There was another tour starting from our same location, and there must have been six guides and forty people milling around waiting. I probably would've broken out in hives if I'd had to join one of those groups.
