The GCW Tour, Buenos Aires & Antarctica: Science!

As the expedition leader puts it, most countries with aspirations feel the need to have a science station on Antarctica. There's a bunch of them, and for today's first landing we landed at the Polish Station Arctowski.

It was kind of fund to see how the scientists live -- well, at least the public spaces. It was kind of a cozy spot, complete with corner bar, dining hall and TV room. I'm not sure I'd want to spend six months there, but there are definitely worse places in the world.

And they have penguins, seals and skuas as neighbors.
