Day Three

Today was much like yesterday. Sleep late, woke up, and felt gross and weird for pretty much the whole day. This, however, did not prevent me from going over to Sib2's house to do some planning for our trip to Costa Rica.

Did you know that if you choose to vacation in a place that numerous websites identify as the "#1" tourist destination, and plan to travel during the very poplar period of Christmas to New Years, and wait until the middle of November to start planning, you're choices and options are significantly limited? I can't remember the last time I saw that many "sold out" labels on a Travelocity search result.

But while we may not have managed to book our first choices -- or, likely, tenth or twenty-seventh -- we did manage to find a place to stay for each of our nights in Costa Rica. We'll see how well we picked when we get there.

Unfortunately, the massive exertion required to enter cities and dates into Travelocity (that would be sarcasm) managed to exhaust me, so I wound up sleeping on Sib2's couch for an hour or so. A bit embarrassing, that -- and slightly worrying given I'm getting on a plane on Friday for Argentina and Antarctica. I'm really hoping I don't wind up sleeping through the penguins.

But with luck, the crappy tired feeling I've got is coming form the irinotecan, and not the capecitabine. If the former, it might wear off by Friday, but I'll be taking the pills through the first week of the trip so if it's the pills that's going to be a problem.

I guess we'll find out soon enough.

  1. As your spiritual advisor I say - get a quick b12 shot. It'll make you feel a but manic, but is a quick fix? Alternatively I'll bring you huge b12 pills you can chew.

Further thought, not super versed in your dugs, but most "biologics" will sit in your fat and slowly ease out. You could ho for a jog and see if you can shake some lose? You'll burn fat when you're cold, so be careful in the Arctic.

    1. Everyone always wants me to exercise. You do realize that the last thing I want to do is move in an athletic fashion? :-)

But yeah, I probably need to exercises.

  2. We had the same travel problem with Okinawa this summer. 6 months ahead we had lots of options, 2 months ahead there were almost none. The resort hotels were completely booked unless we wanted the $5k per night room. That was my entire hotel budget so no. We ended up with one of the few hotels on Okinawa that actually had rooms for 3 people. I guess that in Japan you don't travel with family. Either that or you are expected to get separate rooms for your kids. On second thought maybe they are on to something there...

    1. Family trips can be fun, but there's a lot to be said for couples trips as well. Hope you have the chance to test that theory out in the near future. :-)
