The GCW Tour, Buenos Aires & Antarctica: So What Does One Take to Antarctica?

There seems to have been a fair amount of interest in the past few weeks over what one takes to Antarctica. I can't speak to how a thoughtful, experienced person prepares, but I'm happy to share what I threw into my bag at the last minute:

1 swimsuit (unlikely to be used, but it's always good to be prepared)
1 pair Vietnamese pajama pants, purple
2 pairs of sock liners, silk
2 pairs of sock liners, wool
10 pairs of wool socks
5 pairs "hi tech" underwear
5 pairs long underwear bottoms, ranging from silk to fleece (aka, Mongolian)
2 pairs ski paints -- one heavy, one light
4 hats -- fur, down, wool, polyester
3 neck covers -- rubber face cover, polyester gaiter, and wool scarf
5 gloves -- 2 thin, 2 ski, 1 insane multi-layer mitten thing
1 pair linen cargo pants
2 pairs convertible pants
1 fleece pullover
5 henleys
1 sweatshirt
3 GCW T-shirts
2 plain T-shirts
1 polo shirt
1 button down travel shirt with a collar
1 zip-up hoodie
1 down vest
crocs
hiking boots

I will get rubber boots (rentals) and a parka (their gift to me) from the cruise line. And I had a wool sweater in the mix, but I was starting to worry about weight so I took it out. (Turns out, I had eight pounds to spare.)

Hopefully, some or all of that will be enough to keep me warm. We'll find out in a few days.
