The GCW Tour, Buenos Aires & Antarctica: Your Penguin Decoder Ring

There are eighteen species of penguins in the world, but we'll only get to see four on this trip. And actually, we've already seen all four and I've already posted pictures of all four. But I clearly haven't done a very good job of identifying the pictures I've been posting.

So it's a little late, but here's your official GCW Tour Penguin Decoder:

If there's a black line under the penguin's chin, that's a Chinstrap Penguin.

If the penguin looks like it's wearing white earmuffs over it's head, that's a Gentoo Penguin.

If the penguin has a white circle around it's eyes, that's an Adelie Penguin.

And if the penguin has bright yellow sprouty eyebrow feathers, that's a Macaroni Penguin. (Unfortunately, these we only saw from a distance.)

So now you know how to recognize your penguin species -- or at least the four I've been posting pictures of here.
