The GCW Tour, Buenos Air.& Antarctica: What's the Deal with Flamingos?

Sometime this afternoon I realized that the stuff I did today I should've done yesterday, and the stuff I did yesterday I should've done today. Fewer things would've been closed. Oh well.

So after our tour of the tools of military destruction, Dave and I made our way to the big central park in Buenos Aires. There's a bunch of stuff there, including the zoo and various lakes and other parky sort of stuff. I wasn't planning on going into the zoo, but as I went around the perimeter I did manage to catch site of the flamingos, the back end of an elephant (or possibly a hippopotamus or water buffalo or something else large with a nondescript back end), and a giraffe.

What is the deal with flamingos, anyway? They're like every zoo's loss leader: the animal they stick out at the front to try to draw you in. Can there really be that strong an attraction for big, pink birds? Personally, I just don't see the appeal.

But here, see for yourself...
