The GCW Tour, the Frozen Tour: Has It Really Been That Long?

The niece has been sending post cards to her friends back home and at school. She bought her round for today, but was brought up short by the stamp. I couldn't tell exactly what was going on, but eventually she turned to me, held it out, and asked how to get the backing off.

I took one look and realized I had to explain that you didn't peel the stamp off its backing. You licked the back of the stamp to make it sticky.

I never really thought about when the US Postal Service switched from lick and stick to peel and stick stamps, but it was clearly sometime before a twenty-year-old started sending letters.

I feel so old...
