The GCW Tour, the Frozen Cruise: Christiansborg Palace
I forgot we went to Christiansborg Palace yesterday. Not a bad tour, for a palace that isn't really used much anymore. You get to see the royal rooms (lots of books, mirrors, tapestries and gilt), the underground ruins (there've been some eight or nine palaces on the spot, and there are a fair amount of leftovers from the prior versions), the stables (no horses, since June through August is horse vacation season, but you can still see the carriages), and the kitchens (no longer working, but it's quite the collection of copperware). Since we were there, we also stopped in at the palace theater.
There are worse ways to spend a morning, though I can safely say I have an opinion on the Danish semi-rhetorical question that keeps being raised on our tours: is it worth the expense to the country to maintain a royal family with no political power?
