So after the Ny Carlsberg Glyptoteket, our next stop was to be the Danish Resistance Museum, which commemorates Danish efforts against the Nazis during World War II. Unfortunately, it turns out that the museum burned to the ground in 2013. The fire department was able to save everything that was in it, but when you go to where the museum was supposed to be there's just a grassy field and a very small sign telling you what happened.
My bad for using an old guidebook.
Presumably, they'll get a new museum built eventually and put the displays back on display, but probably not in time for me to catch it. On the other hand, while we were searching for the Resistance Museum we came across the Danish Museum of Design. Not exactly the same, but a reasonable way to spend an hour. As the museum documents, the Danes have had a pretty big impact on the world of design.
There were also few rooms devoted to the Japanese impact on Danish aesthetic, including a display of some 1,700 sword plates in their own custom-designed cabinet.
Go figure.
And, no, I never really caught the explanation of what that car/boat/plane/couch thing is supposed to be, though I'm pretty sure it didn't actually move in any way...
