So tomorrow is oncology day again. All things considered, it should be relatively non-eventful in that there are only three variables truly at play: where my tumor markers are at, what's up with the shortness of breath, and how big a problem is it that there was some miscommunication between SCCA and my insurance-mandated specialty pharmacy so I don't actually have the pills I'm supposed to start taking tomorrow.
Aside from that, I don't expect much in the way of surprises. Of course if you expected it, it wouldn't be a surprise...
...and it's too late at night for my brain to figure out where that logic leads so I'll just stop here and return to that bit about the drugs.
The issue -- surprise, surprise (in the ironic sense of the word) -- is money. In short, a round of pills from SCCA's pharmacy is basically $1,000 more than those same pills from Walgreen's. But not a Walgreen's you can find in most any Puget Sound strip mall, but the Walgreen's "specialty pharmacy" which operates via mail order. But even with the deployment of FedEx overnight delivery, it still takes two days for the pills to arrive, and I'm not entirely confident that those days can include a Saturday or Sunday. All of which would've been totally fine and dandy -- and completely workable -- if not for the fact that my prescription ran out and so when I called on Monday for my refill I was told Walgreen's was waiting on an updated prescription and would call me to confirm the order once they had it.
It occurred to me today that they hadn't called. Oops. I guess I won't be taking pills tomorrow morning. Important? Maybe, maybe not. Who knows?
I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
