Good News and Bad News

We're in the final days of preparation for the GCW trip to Costa Rica. It has become very clear that there is good news about the trip, and bad news.

Here's the good news...

And here's the bad...

As Sib4 (who originally proposed the idea) wondered, "How is it that four arachnophobes came up with Costa Rica as the place to go?"

Good question -- though the better question might be, now that we have non-refundable tickets and two days 'til we leave, why are we looking at Wikipedia? Some things -- bullet ants, banana spiders -- I just don't need to know about right now. I'll wait until something bites me, then look up how bad it's going to be.

But I am wishing I had actually taken up beekeeping as a hobby when I thought about it a few decades ago. I think I might feel more comfortable cruising around the jungles of Costa Rica if I were wearing a beekeeper's outfit.

Though now that I think about it, a beekeeper's outfit might create a false sense of security. After all, they're designed to protect you from bees, not bugs the size of a house cat.

  1. If it's any consolation, I didn't see one spider while I was in Costa Rica for 10 days. There were lizards, though.

    1. Even more good news. How bad can it be if Lori's gone back? Happy holidays to all the non-West Coasters.
