The GCW Tour, Spain & Morocco: Pamplona, Sort Of

When you make reservations to be in Pamplona for San Fermin about ninety days before the festival starts, you don't really get your pick of hotels. I've never seen so many "sold out" entries on Tavelocity. But there were still a few places with space, and HotelBed4U seemed the best of the lot.

Yeah, maybe not so much. Imagine, if you will, that a gas station and an IKEA fell in love and had a baby. That baby would be HotelBed4U. The room is about 400 square feet, there's no separate bathroom (the shower opens up into the room and the toilet is in a closet), everything seems to operate like a gas station convenience store, and it's a very long way from anything resembling a bull.

But it's a place to stay, and that's what matter. San Fermin officially starts tomorrow at noon, so we have some time to decompress, get our bearings, and check out the rest of this very strange hotel.

The room's lavatory. For those who
don't speak Spanish, the sign says,
"There was once a reading room. The end."

The view from the door.

Conveniently located shower -- i.e., right
in the middle of the room.

The view from the other end of the room.

The view from our window.
