In 1936, the city of Kumara opened the largest public baths in New Zealand. In 1940, they lost the water rights and so the pools closed. Now it's just this weird space, sort of hidden off the side of the road. The weirdest thing about it, from an American standpoint anyway, was that there wasn't a beer bottle, fire circle or used condom to be found.
They do a good job of caring for their abandoned pools in New Zealand...
